Teen Therapy

The teenage years can be challenging, and many teenagers face a variety of mental health or emotional issues during this time. From anxiety and depression to stress and trauma, teenagers can experience various difficulties that can impact their daily lives. We offer a safe and supportive environment for teenagers to discuss their feelings and emotions and work towards resolving any issues they may be facing.

Our Approach

At Empowered Life Counseling, we believe that all teens want to do well. When teens struggle in school, relationships, or activities, they may benefit from having a supportive space where they feel accepted and understood to work through their issues. During adolescence, teens learn how to navigate the world outside the home. Though they still need their parents’ support, they gravitate toward developing relationships with their peers and fitting into their community. When they don’t have healthy ways of dealing with life stressors, they can fall into unhealthy relationships and patterns, and therapy can help them develop the tools needed to face these struggles.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a one-on-one therapy session between a teenager and a therapist. In these sessions, the therapist works with the teenager to identify any mental health issues they may be facing and develop a plan to address those issues. Individual therapy can be an effective way for teenagers to work through their feelings and emotions and develop coping skills to manage their mental health.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR therapy can help teenagers in many ways, from providing resources for grounding and stabilizing to reprocessing negative beliefs and traumatic events. One of the goals of EMDR is to establish positive beliefs about oneself. This process can complement the development of positive self-esteem and self-confidence, which are essential in adolescence.

AutPlay® Therapy

If your teenager is neurodivergent, at Empowered Life Counseling, several of our therapists received training in AutPlay® Therapy, an integrative family play therapy approach for addressing the needs of autistic children and their families. It combines the therapeutic powers of play therapy and relationship development approaches in an integrative model to assist adolescents in mental health gains.

Group Therapy

Group therapy involves a small group of teenagers with similar mental health issues. In these sessions, the teenagers work together to share their experiences, provide support and encouragement to one another, and develop coping strategies to manage their mental health. Group therapy can be an excellent way for teenagers to connect with others facing similar challenges and build a support network.

Family Therapy

Family therapy involves a therapist working with a teenager and their family members to address any mental health issues the teenager may face. The therapist helps family members communicate effectively in these sessions and develop strategies to support the teenager’s mental health. Family therapy can effectively improve family relationships and provide teenagers with a supportive and understanding environment.
